Mystery Quilt With Butterflies

The reason this is called a “mystery” quilt is because my Quilt Guild put out the instructions for it in installments without anyone knowing what the end result would look like. It was a mystery until the last installment, when we received instructions for its final construction!

The reds and lime greens in this quilt are Batik Fabrics from Bali and are wonderful saturated colors. The print fabric in the center of the quilt is a Hoffman Fabric that has sections of butterfly wings on it. The inner border also has butterfly wings, but in a smaller scale. I machine embroidered separate butterflies and scattered them in the borders as though they were escaping--or perhaps coming into the quilt, you decide!

I quilted a pattern of flowers and more butterflies to complement the theme of the quilt. The backing is a single Batik Fabric with small red dots of color.
