Care Instructions
for Your Quilt

(Not Intended for Art Wallhangings)

Hang or put on a bed that is out of direct sunlight. Light will fade the colors of the quilt; this also includes artificial and indirect light. Take down and put away occasionally to let the fibers rest. Wash only as it really needs it (maybe once a year or so), particularly before you put it away for awhile. Wash in warm water on gentle cycle with a mild detergent (Woolite, Synthrapol [which you can get at any quilting store], or Orvis). Dry in dryer on fluff setting or on the clothesline inside out, and hang by the edges.

Store in an acid-free cardboard box with acid-free tissue or in a cotton pillowcase. If the quilt is to be stored for any length of time, take it out periodically and refold it a different way. If it is folded the same every time, the fabric will break on the creases over time. Above all, enjoy your quilt and use it--that’s what it was made for.
